We are very pleased to announce that we have officially launched the first batch of courses produced by AKC Palestine on SAT 12-Nov-2005 with the presence of the president of Al-Quds Open University(QOU) Prof. Younis Amro, University President vices, University Faculty Deans and Faculty members, the Palestinian Minister of Telecommunication and Information Technology Dr. Sabri Saidam, Dr. Badie Sartawi representative of the Palestinian minister of education and higher education and the director of the Palestine Education Initiative (PEI) and the Director of Palestinian Association for Development of Internet 2 (PADI 2) which is in charge of EUMED Connect project in Palestine, and Mrs Constanza Farina, director of UNESCO Office in Palestine, the president of the Palestinian Mobile Phone company (JAWWAL), other Palestinian university presidents or representatives, representatives from the government, EU and distinguished guests.

To browse these courses on our server:
http://pleiad.qou.edu please send us an email on avicenna@qou.edu

Some parts in these courses employ the SMIL Technology and you may need to have a realplayer (version 10 or later) on your machine if you like to view some video clips. I recommend browsing the Multimedia II course as it has different variations in the way the author produced his material.

Our server is currently utilizing the bandwidth of EUMED Connect after the successful operation of this line that connects Palestine to UK. Al Quds Open University has been chosen to be the focus point for the project in Palestine.
